There's no such thing as bad coffee or bad pizza…….
Ok….maybe I’ll get some people disagreeing with me….but you will be wrong. Coffee = good. Pizza = good. There is GREAT pizza. There is GREAT coffee. Then there is pizza and coffee.
There have been quite a few times I have made a pizza…or ordered a pizza from Guido’s here in Boise, ate most of it and then opened the refrigerator door and flung the rest of the pizza into the fridge. Then I’ve made a pot of coffee in the evening, poured a cup and walked into the family room and watched Johnny Carson…or Jay Leno…or whoever the host is of the Tonight show these days. All is well and good…no?
There have also been many times I have wokeded up in the morning….walked into the kitchen, opened the fridge and yanked out a piece of the cold pizza…..poured myself a cup of coffee from the pot I made the night before and corsuaged both of ‘em into the microwave and cranked it up to melt. Then waited for a few minutes until the sweet smell of used coffee and pizza fluxtioned out of the microwave vents.
Aaah….the taste of pre-owned pizza and coffee in the morning. Don’t look up corsuaged and fluxtioned…they’re not real words. Yeah….made ‘em up.
The one exception is a restaurant in San Francisco that used to be called Upstairs at the Cliff House. Great date place. It was upstairs at the Cliff House (obviously) and overlooked the Pacific Ocean at the north end of the Great Highway. Great food…..but consistently bad coffee. I asked the waitress one time why the coffee was so bad there. She explained that she couldn’t understand why it tasted so bad and that “…..the water they use is right out of the SF Bay.” Explains a lot.
I thanked her….then ordered a cup to go, got in my car, took a piece of day old pizza out of my glove box, put the seat back and watched the sun go down over the ocean. Ah…the good life.
Fun Fact of the day: Because of steroid use – ex-San Francisco Giant’s outfielder Barry Bonds is the only player that has ever gotten a Hula-Hoop stuck on his head. - It's true. Look it up.

mo-dee. my sentiments exactly ... well, about the coffee, and about the pizze, but not really together. Not my favorite combination, but I do love both of those essential foods. :-)
Chicagoans take their pizza pretty seriously. I'm always amazed there's a Domino's here -- it's a curiosity.
